All national institutions of churches, wheather jewish, christian, or turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit.

So does this mean that you don't believe in GOD or is it that you are just fed up with religion?

I agree that going to church can seem like going to a sales pitch where they ask for money all the time. But if you look at the current world events its only understandable.

We, a free country, do not get to make any free choices anymore! Look at the political races just to start. McCain-Palin, Obama-Biden so we have two choices for the most powerful seat in the world. Thats just BS in my thinking! 300,000,000 million Americans and we pick from two?

I guess what I am trying to say is that our society sucks and our lack of choices sucks but your faith in GOD must remain strong. Continue to fill your children with love and teach them what is right! Someday we will be a great nation again unless we give up!

Let's start with politic's.  I to believe we as a country have been giving up our freedom's  as i said in 1875 " When it is laid down as a maxim, that a king (goverment) can do no wrong, it places him in a state of similar security with the ideots and persons insane, and responsibility is out of the question with respect to himself."

I would not say our society sucks due to the fact that "thought become things so choose the good ones"

As for god and religion i believe we have the wrong idea and jesus and buddha's words were misunderstood or turned  around to control the masses instead of setting us free as intended.

There was twenty five books intentionally left out of the king jame verision of the bible.   Read the god code by greg braden, or deepak chopra's the third jesus, or the lost teaching of thomas or the gnostic scriptures.  read lots and look to your heart.

OK, now we are on the same page here! I too believe that the Word of God has been twisted and turned to control us. But apparently we want to be controlled (as insane as that sounds).

I believe that there is no other God so buddha has no meaning to me. I do respect the belief of others even though they are wrong. Like ALA (or however its spelled). A "god" that would tell you to go kill your neighbors just because? I mean how lame are the people that would follow such a being?

I think that we may agree that it could be the way the bibles of the many religions are written! Many, in my opinion, were written to control the people. They are filled with 1/2 truth convictions.

Society is what you make of it! God is not only good but he is great and merciful.

Ms. 40calgal, I have to inform you we do not even closely agree.

For to judge is a mirror reflection of the one judging right from wrong.

Did you know the only book Thoreau had at Walden Pond was the gita.  And many of Emerson's poems reflect the teaching of both buddha, and jesus.

And there teachings come from the Essene,  who are the authors of the dead sea scrolls.

We need to realize this is heaven on earth and we ought to leave a mess on the carpet.  For we are god Life.

You ought to read "The Essene Gospel of Peace" offering new insights, and a renewed respect, for this lineage of wisdom that predates nearly every major religion of today.

It does appear to me that the dumbing down of Americans by goverment and religion, since my day in the 1700's has,

start to reach almost critical mass.

I am wondering how many participated in the medition for world peace on Oct. 29, 2008 from the Seattle area.  There were 80,000 folks from around the world all online at one time for the same goal.

The one thing i have learned in over 200 years is "Peace, Harmony, Laughter, and LOVE!"

And
